The minors had their 4th outing of the league on Sunday. We have 2 squads and both were high up their respective tables going into the fixtures. Our seconds team were topping their table on 9 points and out firsts 2nd from top on 7.
But we had yet to meet very tough opposition, particularly the seconds. On Sunday we knew we were up against it.
The seconds travelled to Mt. Anville in the morning to play Genesis. It was a very tough game. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with two well-matched sides playing some great hockey.
The firsts then went up to North Kildare. They narrowly beat us in the regular season last year and then again in the league semi-final, going on to take the title. Naas threw everything at it in a very evenly-matched and exciting game. Chances were missed on both sides and everyone across both squads gave it their all. The teams took a point each with a 0-0 draw.
So no wins and 2 draws for the minors at the weekend, yet both teams probably put in their best performances of the season so far. Well done minors!!!
