Naas Ladies 2’s vs YMCA Ladies 2’s. The rain cleared just in time for us to welcome our closest rivals in Div 4 to a sunny Newbridge College. Naas got off to a flying start no sore heads to shake off after paddy’s day. Some great passing lead to Mila being 1v1 with the keeper and with her trademark skills put Naas 1-0 up within the first 5 mins. Naas kept the pressure on YM and not too long after with some superb running hockey from the Naas mids and forwards found Mila in the D this time 3v1 and with a superb reverse shot Naas went 2-0 up in the first quarter. The 2nd quarter saw a reply from YM where they carried up the right side of the pitch and get one past Naas’ defences. Naas kept the foot on the pedal and brought the attack straight back to YM some great play down the sidelines gave Mila the opportunity to smash a reverse stick shot into the back of the net to cap her hat trick of goals! In the 3rd quarter Naas kept the attack going and a super play which started with Ailbhe Brennan saw Lara and Orlaith join the dots up the left hand side of the pitch. Sally Glennon ran a super line and converted for Naas from the P spot. Bringing the score to 4-1. Naas shifted to a defensive formation and weathered a lot of attacking play from YM but held firm until the final whistle. Final score 4-1 player of the match Lara Prendergast. Naas are delighted have secured promotion to Division 3 and now set their sights on winning the league and their upcoming cup final. Well done all 💙💛
