On Saturday Naas ladies 2s took on Genesis for the second week in a row. This time with home advantage in the semi-final of the cup. The Naas side was bolstered by the return of our skiers but Genesis too had a strengthened team from last weeks encounter.
It was a quick start to the game with both sides having possession but unable to convert. It wasn’t until the 3rd quarter when Joy Duggan broke from play and took a shot from the right hand side of the D and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. Genesis can back fighting in the 4th quarter and scored a scrappy goal equalling the sides. Naas had most of the possession for the last quarter but struggled to convert chances. It took a moment of brilliance from Jill Blanchfield to separate the two teams. Blanchfield came across the penalty spot from the right side and hammered home the winning score for Naas 2-1 and we look forward to finals day in April!
