The ladies 2s beat Glennane 2s in the cup on Saturday on shuttles after the game finished 1-1 after normal time. Glennane 2s are from the league below the 2s but have always traditionally been a very strong team and so it proved. Naas dominated possession but Glennane hung in and got a goal against play. The 2s weren’t to be denied though and a performance full of heart led by a Jane Blake equaliser from a penalty corner. Naas pushed hard for a winner but it wouldn’t come so shuttles insued. Captain Jenny Gray stepped up and put the first shuttle away immediately putting Glennane under pressure and ultimately that pressure told with the outstanding Sophie Morrissey in goal saving four shuttles. The 2s will now play Monkstown in the next round of the cup in the new year and return to league action away to Pembroke next Saturday .
